Raider 18 Wheelhouse Construction

The Raider 16 is built using isothalic gel coats (a barrier to osmosis) and bi-axial cloth, which is stitched to chopped strand mat. This makes for a lighter, stronger boat that will absorb mechanical shock far better than conventional materials. During lamination, the cloth is overlapped by 8" on the keel and bilges, giving double the thickness and greater strength. The decks are bonded onto a chassis which is also bonded into the hull whilst it is still in the mould. This holds the hull in shape and provides correct stress loading throughout, both prior to being released, and from then on. This unique 'boat with chassis' design gives the boat enormous strength.
